About Deeper Cuts
The name of the band says it all...we're about playing those "deeper cuts"...those "deeper tracks" by famous bands. With very few exceptions, you will not find us playing the hits by these bands. For example, where most people will expect to hear "You Shook Me All Night Long" or something off the Back In Black album when a band covers AC/DC, we've picked another kick ass track from their Highway To Hell album titled "Touch Too Much". Where most people might expect to hear "Down Under" or "Who Can It Be Now?" by Men At Work, we've picked "It's A Mistake", a song just as powerful and moving as the first two. We're looking to reach a completely different audience than your standard bar scene which, in our opinion, has become somewhat stale with the same old "Summer of 69's" and "You Shook Me All Night Long's". Great songs, just way too over-played at this point.
The band came together in Phoenix, AZ around August of 2008. Brandon and Frankie having jammed on and off with each other for about 3 years were quite aware of each other's talents. They played in various projects around town, but never together in the same project. Kicking around ideas one day, they stumbled upon the thought of putting a band together that adhered to an "unconventional" cover/bar band format, in that, they would play songs from well-known bands...just not necessarily the well-known songs. They would play the "deeper cuts" from these bands. The little "hidden treasures" that you would only know of if you were a fan of the band...and had a copy of the record/CD/tape/8-track (hee hee), etc. ...and so their first mission was to find some like-minded and like-talented musicians around this town.
Sticking to what had worked for them in the past, they posted ads on Craigslist and Backpage. The responses to the ad weren't exactly plentiful, but steady nontheless.
Pete, being one of the later responses to the ad, was an immediate fit for the band. Having played guitar for several years and recently taking lessons at a local music store to expand his prowess, Pete had the chops for the part. Moreover, Pete's attitude was like a puzzle piece being put into place. The first jam session with Pete revealed a parallel train of influences and passion for the guitar parts on the level with Frankie's. Because of this unexpected karma, the two "Bald Brothers" have formed a strong bond rarely found in the music biz allowing their two guitars to share the stage, rather than compete for it.
Tino joined the band in September of 2008. Brandon and Frankie having known Tino from an earlier project, invited him to come over and be part of the solid foundation that gives Deeper Cuts its well-rounded sound. Brandon and Tino (like Frankie and Pete) found their groove together right away. Both being extremely talented musicians, they are the foundation that holds the band up on stage.
So...there you have it...to date anyway. The band is continuing to practice and the song list is growing like... ...well...like most monsters grow. Currently the band is hoping to be ready to play their first gigs around the end of the year.
A band for hire...a band that rocks...a band for all seasons...Deeper Cuts.

So the band went out after practice on Semptember 27th, 2008 and joined in on an open-mic/open-band night at Churchill's Pub and Grill in Chandler, AZ. The band got up for three different sets and jammed with some of the regulars...it was good fun!! So no matter what your talent level is...if you are a musician and enjoy playing in a very relaxed and unassuming atmosphere...Churchill's is the spot in Chandler. Here's some audio (.mp3 files) from that night:
